ohhhhh what a week!!

Well this weekend was really awesome. I had 2 housewarming parties and went out on friday night with the girls from Lake East.

It's -16* today. Cant wait for this months gas bill...

I was working on my budget today.....looks like some entries got deleted or something. So, hopefully its not off too much.

I have not gone grocery shopping much because we have been living out of the freezer and planning meals, so it has saved me a lot.

I also have stuff leftover from the parties :)

Ok well theres a little update on me and whats been going on.

Thats not including my medical issues lately, and our trip to the pediatrician this weekend.....oh and christmas!

Ipod and Coupons

You know, ever since I became pregnant I lost my music interest. I dont know if its that I dont have time, or that its mostly kids songs playing around here.

I want good music on my new ipod, but I am lost right now with whats even out there. Good bands, new albums, etc.

And I need a new coupon organzing system. Mine takes WAYYYYYY too long. I have a bunch of coupons to organize, but its going to take forever so i keep putting it off.

I saw over at Moneysavingmom.com a system that works for her. I need a new one that works for me.

Any help with ethier of this issues is greatly appreciated :)

  1. Make menus, keep grocery bill under $40/wk

  6. $100/mo into house fund into high interest savings ---ok thought about this, and im going to try to add $200/month bc i will need it.
  7. All savings from coupons put into house fund and savings ---or fun fund? lol
  8. Save all house receipts to claim

  9. Garage Sale

  10. CD Ladder (higher than 3.29%) Well see how this goes...I will start tomorrow after work...---scratch that the economy sucks.

Schwab Card

Today, I applied for a new credit card. I usually debit all my transactions, but I think when I get this card, i'm going to use it for all my transactions. It gives you a 2% cash back. I need cash back lol.

I will pay off the balance like I do all my credit cards, and this will be good for us.

Wednesday, December 3, 2008

Shop at Home.com

So, you know how you get those pop ups that install stuff? Well, I got one for this shopathome.com. I looked at my email today, and I have $36.00 to claim bc I got cash back. Here's how it works:

Thirty days after each calendar month's close, your mailing address is confirmed via email.
Once you have verified your mailing address, and your account balance has $20 or more, a check for your balance will be sent on the "next pay date" (see Next Pay Date under "My Cash Back" at the top of the page). If your account is under $20, your current balance will be rolled over to the next month.

Everytime you buy something on a website, shopathome.com pays you. Its cool. Well see if I get my $36.

I do a lot of snapfish and other online shopping, so this is a good thing....

read more about it. Shopathome.com

Kmart

Well after zaks eye dr appt ($20.00) copay we went over to brookpark rd for some double coupon savings. We got:

Goals by the end of the year

These are my financial goals. Very subject to change. I am adding and deleting as days go by.

By the end of December:

  1. Close ING account, or make it a house fund (check for high rates)--11/26/08 transferred money will close account 12/2/08---12/7/08 done.
  2. Close BOA --11/26/08 transferred money will close account 12/2/08---12/7/08 done.
  3. Ipod Touch (well i guess thats a debt)--Done on black friday---12/7/08 done.
  4. move more to savings---12/7/08 done. Moving all lake east paychecks to savings.
  5. start budget. save every reciept and document daily. (maybe ill type up my budget list on here)--starting 12/1/08---12/7/08 half done, you will see it Dec 31 :)
  6. Start planning menus again--started 11/25/08---12/7/08 done.
  7. Post grocery lists and deal from supermarkets.---12/7/08 done kinda, we dont need much.

My big list of 2009 financial goals

  1. Make menus, keep grocery bill under $40/wk

  2. Get emergency fund established 6 mo of income when there put into CD --as of 11/26/08 opened 2 savings accounts: house fund and emergency fund. Looks like etrade.com has higher rates for the savings accounts than any CD does. Will see what 6mo of income is and go from there 12/7/08

  3. Biweekly mortgage payments--will start 12/15/08

  4. Pick 2 days out of month to pay bills--will start 12/15/08

  5. Make little paper of all bills, cross off when paid--that's easy, why haven't i done it?

Lets get it started

For my accounts according to mint.com:

  • Etrade (high yeild savings account): $13,646

  • Chase (low yeild checking): $2,525

  • Chrles Schwab (high yeild checking): $1,261

  • Chrles Schwab savings: $4,501

  • Bank of America (small savings): $222

  • ING savings account: $73
  • LHS retirement account: as of 11/29/2008: $2,149.13
Today I get paid from Metro so I will be moving some money around via the internet.....keep ya posted.
